Find Unused Animal ID Numbers

Question: How do I find which ID numbers I haven't used yet in DairyComp?

Answer: The Usable IDs feature allows you to search for available (i.e., unassigned) animal ID numbers. Follow the steps below to learn how to use the Usable IDs feature:

  1. In the command line, enter CHKFILE\1 to open the Usable IDs window.
  2. Click the Add Range button in the top-right of the window.
  3. In the new CHKFILE window, type the ID number you want to serve as the start of your search, then click OK.

  4. In the updated CHKFILE window, type the final ID number in the search range, then click OK.

    The Usable IDs window updates with the number of available IDs in the Counts column.

  5. Repeat the steps above to include additional ranges as needed.
  6. Click Done.

  7. In the Usable ID Report window, select a print option, the upload option, or exit.

    8. NOTE: You can print the ID list as a notepad, excel, csv, or pdf file.
