Create a New Pocket CowCard Command in DC305

Question: How do I create a new command for Pocket CowCard?

Answer: You can create new SERVER commands for Pocket CowCard in DC305. Pocket CowCard supports SERVER commands for the following list types: To Do, Vet, and Hospital lists. Follow the steps below to create a new Pocket CowCard command:

  1. In DC305, enter ALTER\3 in the command line.
  2. Click Add New in the top left corner.
  3. Enter the following information to create your Pocket CowCard command. In the following example, you can create a Pocket CowCard command to move a list of pregnant animals to another pen:
    1. Abbreviation: Enter an abbreviation for your command. Pocket CowCard command titles typically start with the letter "Z" i.e. ZPGCOW.
    2. Content: Enter the command i.e. SERVER ID PEN DCC FOR CDAT>0 DCC<50.
    3. Title: Enter a description for the command i.e. Pregnant animals under 50 DCC.
  4. Click OK to save the new command.

When you open or refresh Pocket CowCard, select the command abbreviation to view the list.

  • Typically, all Pocket CowCard command titles should start with the letter Z i.e. ZPGCOW.
  • To send a vet list to Pocket CowCard, add the \V switch to your command. Additionally, after you create and save a new vet list command, you must enter the newly created command in DC305 to send the list to your Pocket CowCard handheld device.
  • To send a hospital list to Pocket CowCard, add the \H switch to your command.
  • If you add an OnDone and PostProcess command to a Pocket CowCard command, the system lets you automatically enter the same events and remarks for multiple animals. Expand the information below to learn more:

    Use caution when scheduling follow-up routines for DC305 to run after a list is processed (i.e., PostProcess lists), especially if all animals on the list must be processed before kicking off the next routine. DC305 does not wait for the entire list to be DONE. It will kick off the follow-up routines for each animal as it receives notification from the mobile app that the animal is DONE.
