CowVal (Cow Value)
CowVal is a powerful tool for estimating the value of each adult animal in your herd. These estimates can help you decide when an animal should be replaced and sold, optimizing the value of your herd. CowVal also calculates the current value of a pregnancy for each adult animal, helping you determine whether an open animal should be bred.
CowVal calculations are relative to an average fresh heifer in your herd:
- A positive value from CowVal means that the animal is worth more than the average heifer in your herd.
- A negative value suggests that the animal is worth less than the average heifer.
In order to display these positive/negative values, CowVal introduces two new parameters to your DC305 system—CWVAL (Cow Value) and PGVAL (Pregnancy Value). By running a report containing these parameters, you can see the value of individual animals, with results tailored to include just what you want to include (DIM, LACT, etc).
