Veterinary Procedures

Deciding which animals need to be presented to the veterinarian on herd check day can be a laborious task, particularly in large herds. Animals need to be grouped and examined or treated for a variety of reasons, including pregnancy checks, post-calving exams, vaccinations, or other wellness checks and treatments.

Vet lists allow you to decide which animals need to be checked and when, saving valuable time as well as increasing efficiency on the dairy. The vet list is a special form of worklist that is generated by DairyComp. Once a vet list is generated, the veterinarian can examine the listed animals and enter the results of these exams into DairyComp.

There are three main steps involved with using vet lists:

  1. Set the parameters to tell DairyComp which animals to examine. This is done using vet codes.
  2. Generate the vet list. This is done using a VETLIST command.
  3. Enter the results of the veterinary exam. This is done using the VENTER command.
